Overview

In this role you will contribute to maintaining and improving numerical models within AVEVA’s Unified Supply Chain (USC) team, focusing on the Assay Engine for crude oil data analysis. You will work on an established desktop application, blending software development with mathematical modelling. You’ll tackle challenging numerical and algorithmic problems, mentor junior developers, and potentially lead technical projects. This is an opportunity to shape predictive modelling capabilities in an industrial context while collaborating across a global software organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve numerical models and their code
  • Investigate mathematical, algorithmic and software engineering problems to resolution
  • Own large technical work items, decomposing into manageable tasks
  • Work with legacy code while improving practices
  • Demonstrate potential to lead technical projects
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced developers
Key requirements
  • Strong mathematical background
  • Programming ability in at least one relevant language (e.g. C/C++, C#)
  • Experience of numerical modelling or mathematical software development
  • Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
