Job Description
In this position you will join a fast-paced team developing new,cutting-edgefirmware forSolidigmSolid State Drives (SSD).You willutilizeand grow your experience in embedded architecture, external interfaces, and product constraints, along with the ability to develop architectures/features that meet these constraints while providing new value for the platform. You will use and gain experience in storage interface standards such asNVMe, PCIe,SATA,andSAS.The teamutilizesAgile development methodologies, therefore, excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with team members, both locally and across theorganizationisrequired.
As aMedia Firmware Engineer yourregular responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop, review, document, andmaintainproductsource codeinC/C++
- Analyzeanddevelopfirmwareperinternal and external (customer) specifications
- Perform unit and system level testing includingfailure analysis and debug of product issues as part of development and validation phases
- Develop low-levelfirmware, system architectures, operating systems, device architectures,in partnership withhardwareand ASICdesignteams
- Cross multiple firmware disciplines to develop and grow across the entire SSD architecture
- Work with project stakeholders turning product requirements into development and validation plans
- Participating in and role modelingan Agile/Kanban development culture which emphasizes product quality, team accountability, and continuous improvement
- Coordinate priorities and activities with other engineering stakeholders toaccomplishcommitted milestones
A successful candidate willdemonstrate:

- A history of self-starting and effective multitasking, with strong influence and leadership skills

Qualifications
Candidates mustpossessthe below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to theminimumrequirements and are considered a plus factor inidentifyingtop candidates.Requirements listed below would be obtained through a combination of schoolwork/classes/research and/or relevantpreviousjob and/or internship experiences.
MinimumRequirements:
The candidate must have abachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or a related field.
3+ years of experience in the following areas:
- Knowledge of embedded software or firmware development fundamentals, including C/C++ programming, debugging, and operating close to hardware.
- Experience using software development and debug tools, such as Git, Python, and C/C++ debuggers.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze technical problems, interprettestor debug data, and communicate findings clearly through coursework, internships, research, or engineering projects.
PreferredQualifications
- Understanding ofbasic SSD media-management concepts, such as flash translation layers, wear leveling, garbage collection, bad-block management, error correction, and data integrity.
- Coursework, internship, research, or project exposure to NAND flash memory concepts, including SLC, TLC, and QLC operation and related performance, endurance, retention, andreliabilitytradeoffs.
- Exposure tostorage interfaces or protocols such asNVMe, PCIe, SATA, ONFI, or other high-speed hardware interfaces.
- Interest in developing data-driven media-management algorithms that optimize SSD performance, endurance, reliability, and quality of service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively both independently and in a team across multiple sites

Salary Range: 91,152- 134,500 CAD.
