Medical Coder (Inpatient) (Fully Remote)

• Review complex inpatient medical records and assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG codes remotely.
• Support inpatient coding operations for multiple Veterans Affairs medical centers across the U.S.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete required Patient Treatment File transactions and enter data into VistA using approved encoders.
• Apply VHA coding guidelines and escalate unclear documentation while maintaining 95% coding accuracy.
• Respond to challenged records and claim denials with appropriate coding references.

Requirements:

• Hold an active RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC-H credential; CCS is preferred.
• Have at least 2 years of recent inpatient facility coding experience with ICD-10-PCS and DRG assignment.
• Be a U.S. citizen able to pass a federal background investigation and work securely from a home office.
• Fully remote position with company-provided laptop, encoder, and reference materials.
