Medical Director Physician

Be the founding clinical leader of a brand-new site! A mission-driven community health center serving some of New York City s most underserved residents is seeking a Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director of Behavioral Health, splitting your time between shaping a growing program and caring for patients.

What You ll Do:

• Spend roughly half your time on clinical care, including mentoring and supporting nurse practitioners, and half on leadership and administration
• Serve as the collaborating physician for psychiatric nurse practitioners
• Set clinical standards and policies in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer, whom you ll report to directly
• Build and onboard a high-performing behavioral health team and help guide hiring, evaluation, and development
• Lead quality improvement, risk management, and compliance efforts across behavioral health services
• Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and growth as part of senior leadership
• Drive integration of behavioral health with primary care and oral health in a patient-centered medical home model
• Build partnerships with hospitals, health plans, universities, and community organizations
• Partner on identifying and growing funding sources
• Support residential and case management teams with consultation, training, and care coordination on complex cases

What You ll Bring:

• MD or DO with an active NY medical license
• Board certified in Psychiatry
• 3+ years in a clinical leadership role, ideally in a community health center/FQHC setting
• Fellowship training in psychiatry, child and adolescent, or substance use is a plus
• Knowledge of credentialing, quality improvement, and ambulatory care administration
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
