Mid-level Backend Engineer (Remote) - UK

In this role, you will join a cross-functional Engineering team to deliver high-quality code that solves real problems for both internal and external customers. You will own the problems your team tackles and contribute to an architectural vision aimed at scaling a leading research platform. Expect a fast-paced, collaborative environment with opportunities to learn and advance in a high-performance setting. You’ll work across services using modern tech and be involved in iterative delivery and feedback loops.

• Define technical solutions and contribute to scalable architecture
• Ship working code using React (frontend) and Kotlin microservices with Postgres (backend)
• Deploy and iterate with CI/CD tools and feedback loops
• Build competency through hands-on work and development budget opportunities
• Maintenance and troubleshooting to diagnose root causes and deploy fixes
• Take ownership of team problems and drive high-quality releases

• Proven experience in a mature engineering team
• Technical expertise in Kotlin (and some Ruby)
• Experience with relational databases (Postgres)
• Demonstrated impact in previous roles
• Highly driven, proactive, and meticulous
• Degree in STEM or equivalent pathway (open to non-traditional routes)
