Overview

In this role you will design, develop, and maintain subsurface evaluation solutions for the energy sector as part of the Neftex Technical Services Team. You will contribute to building reliable Java-based desktop and web applications and help drive QA initiatives across stakeholders. You’ll work in an Agile environment, collaborating with product owners and architects to deliver high-quality software that scales. Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain Java desktop and web applications
  • Implement new services, features, and bug fixes as prioritized by the Product Owner
  • Build and integrate APIs for inter-service communication
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, and developers to define requirements
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, retrospectives)
  • Write clean, maintainable code with industry best practices
  • Implement automated tests (unit, integration, functional) to ensure quality
  • Monitor and optimize performance, scalability, and security
  • Apply security best practices including secure auth flows, encryption, and input validation
  • Keep dependencies up to date to mitigate vulnerabilities
  • Troubleshoot across development, staging, and production
  • Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing
  • Escalate issues clearly to stakeholders
Key requirements
  • Strong Java Core knowledge (Collections, Generics, Streams, Lambdas)
  • Multithreading and concurrency (Executors, synchronization, CompletableFuture)
  • Memory management and GC basics
  • OO principles (SOLID, design patterns, microservice architecture)
  • Experience with Java frameworks (SpringBoot, Hibernate/JPA, REST, OData)
  • Backend REST APIs with Spring Boot, Swagger/OpenAPI, Spring Security, OAuth2/OIDC, JWT
  • Git-based workflows and GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience in Agile environments (Scrum or Kanban)
  • Familiarity with SQL Server or PostgreSQL
  • Self-starter with rapid learning ability
  • Undergraduate degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
