Overview

In this role you will lead AWS migration design and execution, shaping end-to-end migration waves from discovery through delivery. You’ll perform discovery to understand current-state environments and risks, then translate findings into migration plans. You’ll design target AWS architectures and coordinate with delivery and governance teams to ensure Well-Architected alignment. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role at scale with a strong emphasis on technical leadership and programme-wide impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end design of AWS migration solutions for infrastructure and applications.
  • Conduct discovery exercises using AWS Application Discovery Service and Migration Hub to map current state, dependencies, and risks.
  • Create migration wave plans and select rehost, replatform, or refactor strategies per workload.
  • Design target state architectures on AWS (compute, storage, networking, security).
  • Coordinate with delivery and project managers to align technical approach with timelines.
  • Support migration wave execution using AWS MGN, DMS, and Application Migration Service; resolve issues as they arise.
  • Produce architecture documentation and artefacts for governance and sign-off.
  • Collaborate with security, change, and transition teams to meet organisational and AWS Well Architected requirements.
Key requirements
  • Proven track record driving AWS migration waves from design through execution.
  • Strong AWS infrastructure experience (VPC, EC2, networking, storage).
  • Strong application understanding within AWS environments (dependencies, integration points).
  • Hands-on discovery experience is essential.
  • Experience across multiple migration waves in a programme setting.
  • Working knowledge of AWS migration tooling (MGN, DMS, Application Discovery Service, Migration Hub)
  • Analytical thinking
  • Clear communication of technical details to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure across multiple workstreams
