Mortgage Underwriter

About the Role

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join their team in Kimberley . In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating loan applications to assess creditworthiness and ensure compliance with company policies and lending regulations. You will analyze financial documents, credit histories, and property valuations to make informed decisions on loan approvals. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a hybrid environment, contributing to the responsible growth of the company's mortgage portfolio within the Kimberley market.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze loan applications, including borrower credit reports, income verification, and asset documentation.
• Assess the risk associated with each loan application and determine loan eligibility based on underwriting guidelines.
• Ensure all underwriting decisions comply with internal policies, as well as national and provincial regulations.
• Communicate loan decisions, conditions, and requirements clearly to loan officers and applicants.
• Maintain accurate and organized loan files and documentation.
• Stay current with changes in mortgage lending regulations and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mortgage Underwriter.
• In-depth knowledge of mortgage lending laws, regulations, and underwriting standards.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and systems.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage workload effectively in a hybrid work setting.
