Overview

As a Natural Catastrophe Analytics Analyst you will advance risk analytics within Sompo’s Natural Catastrophe Exposure Management team, focusing on multi-line catastrophe risk insights for senior stakeholders. You’ll harness group roll-ups, refine reports, and optimize analytics workflows to reduce manual effort. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform risk mitigation and portfolio growth, contributing to a broader risk analytics capability. This London-based role offers the chance to shape modelling and reporting processes in a global insurer.

Responsibilities
  • Perform group roll-ups in Resolver using inputs from Insurance, Reinsurance and Ceded Re for in-force roll-ups, planning, SHD reporting, and ceded reinsurance options
  • Analyse roll-ups to provide insight into the modeled nat cat risk profile
  • Produce, maintain, and refine group reports
  • Operate and optimize nat catastrophe risk analytics tools and workflows with opportunities for automation
  • Interpret and manage integration of ceded contracts within exposure management tools
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to respond to ad-hoc requests and provide analytical output
  • Provide high-quality input on analytics projects with actionable business insights
  • Support Natural Catastrophe Risk Analytics development projects (model validation, new model adoption, governance)
  • Support the Lead, Group Risk Analytics team, and broader Risk function as needed
Key requirements
  • Proven experience in exposure management or natural catastrophe risk analytics with multi-line reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and MS Excel; experience with Python, Power BI, or Julia desirable
  • Strong programming skills for tool creation, optimization, and automation
  • Extensive experience with third-party nat catastrophe models, especially RMS RiskLink (Risk Modeler a plus)
  • Technical or analytical background in natural hazards is advantageous
  • Experience with man-made and systemic risks is beneficial
  • Ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights under uncertainty
  • Certifications such as CSCR (preferred); CCRA (RMS) or CEEM (AIR) beneficial
