.Net Application Developer

6-month contract, hybrid, downtown Toronto

We are working with a client seeking a .Net Application Developer with strong legacy application development and maintenance experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing, developing, maintaining, and modernizing enterprise-grade applications within the .NET ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot legacy .NET applications, including Windows Forms desktop applications
  • Analyse existing codebases and application architecture to understand business logic, workflows, dependencies, and system integrations
  • Design and enhance application components using C#, .NET, Entity Framework, ADO.NET, and SQL Server
  • Work with multithreading, asynchronous programming, data binding, reflection, and Windows UI components
  • Integrate applications with Windows Services, hardware peripherals, printers, serial devices, COM components, and external systems
  • Develop and maintain APIs, database integrations, and data-persistence solutions
  • Support application deployments, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines using AWS and Azure DevOps
  • Apply software design principles, including Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS, to improve application maintainability and performance

Required Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET application development, particularly legacy applications
  • Extensive experience with Windows Forms and desktop application development
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server, Entity Framework, ADO.NET, and database integration
  • Experience with multithreading, asynchronous programming, data binding, and application performance tuning
  • Experience with Windows Services, COM Interop, P/Invoke, and hardware/peripheral integration
  • Experience developing APIs and integrating applications with external systems
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Retail banking or financial services experience is an asset
