Software Engineer – Aberdeen, Hybrid Join a global technology leader building cutting-edge software at the heart of the energy sector. This is a chance to work on complex, high-impact engineering problems used by clients worldwide, embedded in a close-knit core software team that owns the full product lifecycle rather than a single slice of it. What's in it for you:
- Salary up to £65,000
- Hybrid working - 3 days per week from the Aberdeen office.
- You'll get private healthcare and life assurance
- Company pension scheme
- On-site parking and gym facilities
- Real investment in your career through an employer that takes R&D seriously and backs its engineers' growth
- The offices are modern and well-equipped, and the culture is collaborative rather than hierarchical
- You'll be involved end-to-end: capturing and shaping requirements alongside the business, designing new code for data acquisition, equipment control, logging and analysis, and taking ownership of large, complex pieces of code with input from fellow engineers.
- You'll take part in design reviews and peer review other developers' work, support end users of the finished product, and help maintain and evolve existing software.
- There's genuine scope to explore and introduce new technologies where they'd improve code quality or team productivity, and you'll work closely with the firmware team to align methodologies across software and firmware.
- Expect to be challenged technically, trusted with real ownership, and surrounded by strong engineers using a modern stack.
- Solid experience with C#, .NET (or VB) and Visual Studio
- A background in C/C++ or embedded software/firmware is a very nice to have
- Familiarity with containerisation, services, web applications and database design
- Ability to estimate development timescales, produce design documentation, and work confidently with version control
- A good grasp of interfacing techniques and communication protocols is a plus
- You'll likely be degree-qualified in engineering, physics, computer science, or mathematics. Though demonstrable relevant experience is just as welcome
- Confident communication matters too, since you'll collaborate closely across teams
