TheCityofOwenSoundisseekingaskilledandcustomer-focusedprofessionaltojoinourInformationTechnologyteamasaNetworkAdministrator .ReportingtotheManagerofInformationTechnology,thispositionisresponsiblefortheimplementation,maintenance,support,andsecurityoftheCity'svoiceanddatanetworks,servers,andtechnologyinfrastructure.Thisroleplaysacriticalpartinensuringthereliability,security,andperformanceofsystemsthatsupportmunicipalservicesacrosstheorganization.Thispositionisbeingpostedforaleaveofabsence.

TheNetworkAdministratorprovidestechnicalexpertiseinnetworkoperations,cybersecurity,Microsoft365administration,disasterrecoveryplanning,andinfrastructureprojectswhiledeliveringexceptionalsupporttointernalusersandstakeholders.

WhatYou’llDo

Network&InfrastructureAdministration

• MaintainandsupporttheCity'snetworkinfrastructure,includingswitches,routers,firewalls,VPNs,wirelessnetworks,andVoIPsystems.
• SupportMicrosoftWindowsServerenvironments,ActiveDirectory,AzureActiveDirectory,DNS,DHCP,andrelatedtechnologies.
• AdministerandsupportMicrosoft365andassociatedapplications.
• Monitornetworkperformanceandrecommendimprovementstoenhancereliabilityandefficiency.

Cybersecurity&DisasterRecovery

• Implementandmaintainsecurityconfigurations,policies,andcontrolstoprotectCityinformationsystems.
• Assistinthedevelopment,maintenance,andimplementationoftheCity'sCyberIncidentResponsePlananddisasterrecoverystrategies.
• Performsystembackupsanddisasterrecoverytestingtoensurebusinesscontinuity.
• Identifypotentialvulnerabilitiesandrecommendsolutionstostrengthensecurity.

TechnicalSupport&ServiceDelivery

• Providesecond-leveltechnicalsupportforhardware,software,infrastructure,andnetwork-relatedissues.
• Supportinstallations,upgrades,troubleshooting,andmaintenanceofnetworkequipment,servers,workstations,andapplications.
• Provideguidance,training,andtechnicalsupporttoCitystaff,Council,andotherstakeholders.
• Promotetheeffectiveandappropriateuseoftechnologythroughouttheorganization.

Project&TechnologyPlanning

• Participateintechnologyplanningthroughongoingresearchandevaluationofemergingtechnologies.
• Manageassignedtechnologyprojectsandinitiativesinaccordancewithprojectmanagementprinciplesandestablishedtimelines.
• Research,recommend,andimplementinnovativesolutionstosupportoperationalrequirementsandserviceimprovements.
• Contributetoannualbudgetplanningrelatedtoinformationtechnologyinfrastructure.

Documentation&ContinuousImprovement

• Developandmaintaintechnicaldocumentation,networkdiagrams,procedures,andsystemrecords.
• Assistindevelopingpolicies,standards,andproceduresrelatedtoinformationtechnologyinfrastructure.
• SupportcontinuousevaluationandimprovementofITinfrastructureandservices.
• Participateinafter-hourssupportandon-callrotationsasrequired.

WhatWe’reLookingFor

Education&Experience

• Two(2)yearCollegeDiplomainInformationTechnology,ComputerNetworking,ComputerSystems,orrelatedfield.
• IndustrycertificationssuchasMCSE,CCNA,VCP,A+,Network+,Security+,orequivalentcombinationofeducationandexperience.
• Minimumthree(3)yearsofexperienceinanetworkadministrationorrelatedtechnologyrole.

Skills&Competencies

• StrongknowledgeofMicrosoftWindowsServertechnologies,ActiveDirectory,AzureActiveDirectory,DNS,DHCP,MicrosoftExchange,andMicrosoftSQLServer.
• Experiencesupportingnetworkinfrastructureincludingfirewalls,switches,routers,VPNs,wirelessnetworks,andVoIPsystems.
• KnowledgeofVMwareandvirtualservertechnologies.
• Stronganalytical,troubleshooting,projectmanagement,andproblem-solvingskills.
• Excellentcommunication,interpersonal,customerservice,anddocumentationskills.
• Abilitytoworkindependentlywhilecontributingeffectivelytoacollaborativeteamenvironment.

Compensation&Benefits

• Wage: $41.99-$49.43hourly,35hoursperweek.
