Overview

In this role you lead the long-term design and deployment of strategic network solutions for BT’s converged core, focusing on Nokia NSP. You shape roadmaps, coordinate security posture, and ensure seamless integration with BT’s IT landscape. You’ll drive automation and efficient delivery while maintaining cost effectiveness at scale. You work with cross-functional stakeholders to translate requirements into robust network designs that support capacity, product development, and customer experience. This is a mission-critical role at the forefront of telecom infrastructure modernization and security.

Responsibilities
  • Own strategic NSP-related designs and artefacts for new products or platform improvements aligned with roadmap
  • Champion NSP security, perform testing and advise on security from OS to application
  • Ensure Nokia delivers quality through testing cycles and deployment strategies
  • Act as SME on Nokia NSP, influence wider technical roadmap
  • Advise on NSP’s fit in BT IT architecture and coordinate upstream integrations
  • Identify opportunities for software adoption and automation
  • Generate process and ways-of-working improvements
  • Shape requirements for network deliverables with stakeholders
  • Provide Live and OSS Test support and oversee testing to meet requirements
  • Mentor junior staff and engineers through formal channels
Key requirements
  • Knowledge of Nokia NSP platform, architecture, and capabilities
  • Strong system security understanding with compliance to TSA requirements
  • Containerisation and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • IP/MPLS networking and routing protocols (OSPF/BGP); VPWS/VRFs; CCNA/NRS1 level preferred
  • Software engineering ability (Python) and version control (GitLab)
  • Strategic thinking on network evolution and automation
  • Clear communication of complex topics to business stakeholders
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Engagement with vendors and stakeholders to align roadmaps
  • Experience building solutions to meet business requirements and assessing vulnerabilities
