Network Engineer

In this role you will safeguard and optimize the practice IT infrastructure across sites, balancing on‑premises and cloud systems, servers, and network architecture. You will work with the Service Desk and IT team to resolve escalated issues and ensure high availability. You’ll design and maintain secure, compliant networks and oversee vendor relationships and procurement. This position offers hands-on technical impact in a security‑driven, ISO‑27001/Cyber Essentials aligned environment.

• Oversee and collaborate with Service Desk Analysts on incidents, problems and service requests
• Design, implement, and maintain the practice network architecture including cloud platforms, servers, networking, Wi‑Fi and connectivity for high availability
• Implement and monitor security measures (firewalls, VPNs, threat protection, access controls) to meet compliance
• Review and improve IT policy, network, servers and security documentation; ensure governance alignment (Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001)
• Create and maintain documentation of technical issues
• Support supplier management, procurement, and external contracts for hardware/software/infrastructure

• Strong network/security knowledge across routers, switches, firewalls, and Wi‑Fi
• Procurement and supplier relationship management experience
• Security focus including threat protection, VPNs, vulnerability remediation
• Project delivery and rollout experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server and Hyper‑V
• End‑user device management experience (Intune, Autopilot)
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 stack (EntraID, Teams, Azure, Defender, etc.)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and document management systems
• Experience with ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials compliance
