Overview

As a Network Engineer at G-Research in London, you will own and improve the reliability, performance and security of the company’s network and network security stack. You’ll boost observability, automate operational tasks, and support scalable data-center and WAN infrastructure for a research-focused engineering organization. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce incidents, drive on-call resilience, and advance IaC/CI/CD practices for networking. Responsibilities
  • Own performance, availability and security of network and network security platforms end-to-end
  • Enhance observability with telemetry, alerting and monitoring using Grafana, Prometheus, ThousandEyes
  • Implement and maintain scalable datacentre network infra using Cisco and Arista
  • Champion automation of operations with Python, Ansible, Jinja2 and Git
  • Support and extend Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD for network provisioning
  • Own break/fix and incident response for complex network issues
  • Drive incident management practices including on-call, escalations, postmortems and root-cause analysis
  • Implement and manage WAN CEs with knowledge of MPLS or Segment Routing
Key requirements
  • Strong background as a Network Engineer in enterprise or large-scale environments
  • Experience applying SRE, observability and automation to networking (Python, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Ansible, Jenkins)
  • Experience with Cisco and Arista switching/routing and security infrastructure (firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation)
  • Expertise in Cisco/Arista platforms (IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS, EOS)
  • Hands-on with BGP, OSPF, EVPN, VXLAN and MPLS
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and predictive analysis systems
  • On-call readiness and incident response discipline
