Network Engineer

In this role you will own and evolve a complex network in a large public sector environment, supporting critical infrastructure and service delivery. You will work with cross-functional teams to design, implement and optimize network solutions, while ensuring compliance and security. The position offers technical ownership and opportunities to influence cloud and on-premises networking at scale. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a structured, security-conscious setting.

• Support and improve physical and virtual network infrastructure
• Configure, troubleshoot and optimise Cisco networks
• Contribute to network design, implementation and technical documentation
• Support SD-WAN, VLANs, routing and cloud networking technologies
• Monitor network performance, security and service availability
• Analyse business requirements and recommend technical solutions
• Identify infrastructure risks and implement mitigations
• Collaborate with architects, stakeholders and external suppliers
• Ensure solutions meet compliance and service standards
• Drive continuous improvement across network infrastructure

• Substantial hands-on Cisco network engineering experience
• Proven background in large, complex IT environments
• Strong knowledge of SD-WAN, VLANs and static and dynamic routing
• Experience with Azure, Azure vWAN, AWS and Zscaler
• Knowledge of network monitoring tools including SolarWinds and Sentinel
• Experience building and maintaining physical and virtual networks
• Familiarity with Avaya telephony and network security
• Understanding of ITSM and ISO 20000 principles
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation and problem-solving skills
• Ability to own technical tasks independently and work with stakeholders and suppliers
