Network Engineer

In this role you will maintain and evolve a highly secure defence network, ensuring availability and implementing architectural changes. You’ll collaborate with defence stakeholders and international partners to deliver network initiatives and secure services. You will address performance, security policies, and cryptographic technologies in a high-assurance environment. This position offers meaningful impact by shaping secure connectivity for mission-critical operations.

• Operate and maintain a complex secure network environment, including gateways and cross-connects to international networks.
• Monitor network performance, proactively identify outages and uphold SLAs.
• Design and implement network and architectural changes aligned with project requirements.
• Provide technical consultation to delivery teams and senior stakeholders.
• Collaborate with defence stakeholders and international partners to design, coordinate and deliver network initiatives.
• Manage network perimeter security and internet-facing policies and deployed assets.
• Support software-defined networking and inter-enclave firewalling.
• Contribute to the design and delivery of service provider and data centre network solutions.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation using Confluence.
• Support configuration and management of secure networking and cryptographic technologies.

• Extensive professional Network Engineering experience.
• CCNP or equivalent networking experience.
• Palo Alto experience.
• Strong firewalling experience, ideally PCNSE or equivalent.
• Multi-vendor networking experience.
• Proven network design and project delivery experience.
• Experience with service provider and data centre networking.
• Experience with high-grade encryption / cryptographic technologies.
• Experience operating within secure defence or government environments.
• Ability to present complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
