Network Engineer (Cisco/Meraki)

In this role you will contribute to a global IT infrastructure by delivering high‑level network support and leading network projects. You’ll work within a skilled infrastructure team to maintain reliability, implement design changes, and document technical details for cross‑functional teams. The position offers involvement in hands‑on engineering, project delivery, and knowledge sharing to strengthen the network backbone for a FTSE‑level business. A clear hook is the opportunity to influence the design and security of a global network while developing SME expertise.
Responsibilities- Provide 3rd line network support and troubleshooting
- Lead or contribute to multi-project delivery including office moves, vendor replacements and datacentre networks
- Design, configure and install network solutions for projects with tight timelines
- Develop and maintain project documentation and site/technical documentation
- Conduct knowledge-sharing workshops and create SME knowledge in a technology area
- Proactively monitor IT systems and implement preventative measures to reduce downtime
- Prepare post-incident reviews and implement improvement actions
- Test and report on network/server performance and develop improvement strategies
- Ensure compliance with IT security policies and assist in enforcing them
- Manage on‑call rota and participate in regular weekend maintenance
- Support Azure cloud-based networking and general network/ITIL processes
- Understand business requirements and recommend appropriate technologies to meet goals
- CCNP level certification or above
- Experience as a Level 3 Network Engineer
- Cisco and Meraki product experience
- Cisco FTD, FMC, Switches & Nexus 5k/9k experience
- Meraki MX/MS/MR/SD-WAN experience
- Cisco Catalyst Switches, Cisco ISR routers, Cisco DNA Center administration
- CUCM / Cisco Voice experience
- Strong Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine) experience
- Multicast troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of Azure cloud networks
- Network automation via Python scripting
- Cisco AnyConnect remote access VPN configuration/troubleshooting
- Linux experience (desirable)
- ITIL processes knowledge
- On-call availability and weekend maintenance
- Project delivery experience including design, configuration, installation and office moves
