Overview
In this role you will design, configure, and support secure, virtualised networks for enterprise environments, with a focus on NSX-based solutions. You will own delivery of work packages, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders to meet security and performance requirements. The position blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership in a hybrid work setting, supporting critical UK systems. You will help shape standards and governance while driving continuous improvement.

- Design, configure and support NSX-based network virtualization solutions in secure environments
- Own engineering delivery for one or more work packages (planning, estimation, execution, reporting)
- Develop and review high- and low-level network designs and technical documentation
- Integrate and test network components to meet performance and security requirements
- Provide mentoring, guidance and technical leadership to engineers and technicians
- Collaborate with stakeholders, project teams and customers to ensure solutions meet requirements
- Drive continuous improvement and contribute to engineering standards and governance
- Strong experience in designing, configuring, and supporting network virtualization platforms (NSX or similar)
- Balance hands-on engineering with technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities
- Confidence to own solutions and represent networking in technical discussions
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, and routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, QoS, VPNs, VLANs)
- NSX-T design, configuration and support in virtualised environments
- Software-defined networking implementation (logical switching, routing, micro-segmentation)
- NSX integration within virtualised/platform environments (VCF)
- Hands-on experience with Cisco or equivalent multi-vendor equipment
- Network security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, segmentation)
- Familiarity with virtualization and cloud networking concepts
- Network monitoring, diagnostic and analytics tools
- ITIL and service management familiarity
- Delivery experience within secure/enterprise/defence environments
- Mentoring and technical leadership
- Collaboration with stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Clear communication and confidence in technical discussions
- NSX-T (design, configuration, support)
- Software-defined networking (micro-segmentation, logical switching, routing)
- VCF integration (vSphere, vSAN, Aria Suite)
