Network Security Design Engineer

Certain Advantage is recruiting for a Network Security Design Engineer to join a well-established energy company based in London.

This is a contract opportunity, requiring onsite attendance three days per week.

We are seeking an experienced professional with strong expertise in Palo Alto Networks, Panorama, Zscaler, and Microsoft Azure Cloud. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network architectures across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure network solutions aligned with business and security requirements.
• Configure and manage Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama, including security policies, NAT, threat prevention, and centralised management.
• Design and support Zscaler solutions, including ZIA and ZPA, for secure internet access and zero-trust network access.
• Design and secure Azure networking, including VNets, NSGs, routing, VPNs, and ExpressRoute.
• Develop high-level and low-level design documentation (HLDs/LLDs).
• Troubleshoot complex network security issues and support migrations, upgrades, and security improvements.
• Collaborate with network, cloud, and cybersecurity teams to deliver secure enterprise solutions.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama.
• Experience with Zscaler ZIA and ZPA.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud networking and security.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, NAT, and network segmentation.
• Knowledge of zero‑trust architecture, SASE, and cloud security best practices.
• Experience in network security design, technical documentation, and enterprise environments.
• Relevant Palo Alto, Zscaler, or Microsoft Azure certifications.
• Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
