• Coverage Window: Rotating coverage dates beginning in December 2026 and extending through June 2027
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Schedule: Seven nights on followed by seven nights off, with coverage every other week
• Patient Volume: Approximately 16 adult inpatients per day
• Electronic Medical Record: Cerner
• Clinical Support: Advanced practice provider support for admissions

Nocturnist Physician Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent hospitalist or nocturnist experience
• Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Current, unrestricted Michigan physician license in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Active DEA registration or verbal confirmation available at submission
• Experience caring for adult inpatients without routine ICU/CCU responsibilities
• Ability to provide rounding, intermittent patient coverage, and occasional code response
• Clean background suitable for expedited privileging
• Availability for the specified alternating-week schedule

Hospitalist and Nocturnist Responsibilities

• Provide overnight hospitalist coverage for adult inpatients during 12-hour night shifts
• Round on and manage approximately 16 hospitalized patients per day
• Evaluate new and existing patients and coordinate appropriate treatment plans
• Provide intermittent staffing coverage for inpatient needs throughout the night
• Respond to occasional codes and urgent clinical situations
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers who support admissions
• Document patient encounters, orders, and care plans accurately in Cerner
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff and the broader care team to support safe, high-quality patient care
