Observability Engineer  

In this role, you will enhance NEC’s observability and monitoring for government applications, driving a mature, proactive monitoring posture. You will work with cross-functional teams to implement standards for new customers and improve current monitoring capabilities. The role blends hands-on engineering with analysis and clear communication to translate operational insights into actions. You will contribute to secure, compliant, and scalable monitoring solutions within a public-sector enterprise environment.

• Configure agents, collectors and monitoring probes; manage upgrades and platform maintenance; ensure platform availability and performance
• Design monitoring solutions for modern tech and applications; refine standards and onboarding processes; create monitors for applications, databases and servers based on requirements
• Drive service improvement by reviewing effectiveness, identifying gaps, and recommending new observability capabilities
• Engage with application owners, infrastructure teams, SMEs and service managers; support knowledge transfer and documentation to upskill teams on observability usage and maintenance
• Ensure monitoring aligns with security, compliance, and ISM tools integrations

• Proven experience as Observability Engineer, Monitoring Specialist, SRE, or Platform Engineer
• Strong knowledge of monitoring, logging, and alerting with tools like Splunk, Datadog or similar
• Hands-on instrumentation of apps with metrics, logs and traces
• Understanding of on-prem and/or cloud infrastructure, networking basics, databases, and API integrations
• Ability to analyse complex systems and provide actionable recommendations
• Experience with automation (PowerShell, Python, Terraform)
