Bookkeeper / Office Administrator

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Office Administrator to support the financial and administrative operations of our commercial electrical contracting business. This position is well suited to an organized, self-motivated professional who is comfortable working independently and managing a variety of accounting and office responsibilities.

This is an up to 1-year contract position with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, payments, and collections
  • Process and reconcile bank and credit card accounts
  • Enter and maintain accurate financial transactions, expenses, and receipts
  • Process payroll through QuickBooks Online, including maintaining employee records and tracking hours and vacation
  • Assist with payroll remittances and year-end requirements
  • Monitor outstanding customer accounts and follow up on overdue invoices
  • Assist with month-end and year-end bookkeeping and reporting
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial and company records
  • Prepare basic financial reports and information for management
  • Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, and employees regarding financial and administrative matters
  • Provide general office and administrative support to management and field staff
  • Assist with job and project administration, documentation, and filing
  • Use Microsoft Office/365, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping and administrative processes
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping and/or accounting experience
  • Strong QuickBooks Online experience – required
  • Experience processing payroll using QuickBooks Online
  • Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and reconciliations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional, reliable, and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Bookkeeping, accounting, or business administration education is an asset

Experience in construction, electrical contracting, or another trades-based business is considered an asset.

Position Details

Employment Type: Contract – up to 1 year, with possibility of permanent

Hours: Part-time 20-24hrs/week $19.00 to $22.00/ HR

Location: In person – Arnprior Ontario
