Oncology - Radiation Physician

Locums - Duluth, Minnesota, Radiation Oncology Job (IMLC Accepted)

Job Overview:

• Need: 1 full-time locum Radiation Oncologist

• Onsite coverage required during hours of operation.

Schedule:

• Clinic and treatment hours: 7:30 AM-4:30 PM

• Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: Consultations, follow-ups, and CT simulations

• Tuesday: On-Treatment Visit (OTV) day

Department & Team Support:

• EMR: Epic

• Patient Volume: 10-16 patients per shift

• Hospital Certification: Stroke Certified

• Radiation Oncology Team:

  • 4.0 FTE Radiation Oncologists in Duluth

  • 1.0 FTE Radiation Oncologist in Ashland

  • 1.8 FTE Medical Physicists, including 0.8 FTE remote support; active recruiting underway

  • 3 Medical Dosimetrists

  • 7 Radiation Therapists

  • 2.0 FTE RNs staffed daily

  • 1 Radiation Oncology Manager

  • 1 Clinical Assistant (CA)

  • 1 Scheduler

• Provider will not work solo. At least 2 Radiation Oncologists will be in the department at all times.

Patient Volume:

• 35-50 patients under treatment daily across the physician team

• Approximately 10-16 patients under treatment per physician per day

• 3-5 CT simulations daily across the department

• Approximately 2-3 consultations per day, four days per week

• No consultations typically scheduled on OTV day

• Approximately 10-12 follow-up visits per week

• Consultation appointments: 60 minutes

• Follow-up appointments: 30 minutes

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Manage inpatient and outpatient consultations.

• Conduct follow-up visits.

• Order CT simulations.

• Participate in treatment planning and critical structure delineation.

• Develop radiation therapy prescriptions.

• Review and approve treatment plans.

• Order, review, and approve imaging.

• Collaborate closely with the radiation oncology team.

• Participate in chart rounds, system peer rounds, and tumor conferences.

Technology & Treatment Modalities:

• Equipment and Systems:

  • Two Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators

  • Siemens Go Open Pro large-bore CT scanner with respiratory gating

  • Identify Motion Management System

  • Varian Eclipse treatment planning system

  • MIM

  • Varian ARIA

  • Epic EMR

• Treatment Modalities:

  • CT simulations

  • 3D conformal radiation therapy

  • IMRT

  • VMAT

  • SRS/SRT

  • SBRT

Requirements:

• Active MN license or IMLC accepted

• Board certified

• BLS certification

• Proficiency with Epic, Varian ARIA, and Eclipse

• Experience using Varian TrueBeam

• Ability to manage radiation oncology consultations, follow-ups, simulations, treatment planning, and plan approval
