Openstack Engineer

I’m recruiting an experienced OpenStack Engineer to join a leading UK hybrid cloud and managed services provider.

This isn’t a traditional infrastructure support role. You’ll work behind the scenes on the engineering that powers a secure, highly available cloud platform, building automation, developing backend tooling and onboarding customers into complex OpenStack environments.

The role will involve:

• Engineering and improving OpenStack cloud platforms
• Onboarding new customers and workloads
• Developing backend tooling and automation using Python
• Automating platform provisioning and configuration
• Working with APIs and systems integrations
• Supporting multi-tenant cloud environments
• Troubleshooting complex platform and deployment issues
• Improving CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code processes
• Supporting platform upgrades, resilience and performance
• Working across Linux, Ubuntu, networking and security

What they’re looking for:

• Strong Python scripting or backend engineering skills
• Hands‑on experience with OpenStack environments
• Strong Linux and Ubuntu knowledge
• Experience automating infrastructure and operational processes
• An understanding of APIs, integrations and cloud networking
• Experience onboarding customers or deploying workloads onto cloud platforms
• Familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure‑as‑code tooling
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Exposure to Kubernetes and container platforms would be beneficial
