Overview

In this role you will configure and commission assets into SSE Renewables’ central control systems, driving asset performance and operational efficiency. You will collaborate with OT, IT and Telecoms teams to strengthen security and resilience, supporting safe, continuous operation of a growing renewables portfolio. You’ll challenge established ways of working and help build the technology foundations needed for SSE’s ongoing growth. This is a hybrid, 24/7 operations-focused opportunity in a leading energy company.

Responsibilities
  • Own configuration, testing and commissioning of new Onshore Wind, Solar and Battery Energy Storage assets into centralised control systems
  • Develop and deliver system enhancements with OT, IT and Telecoms to improve security, resilience and performance
  • Introduce improved processes and system improvements to increase efficiency and align with evolving business needs
  • Design, execute and document testing activities for critical OT and IT systems
  • Provide first-line support for operational systems and coordinate with specialist teams to maintain service availability
  • Collaborate across Operations, Project Delivery, OT, IT and Telecoms to ensure smooth integration of assets into control platforms
Key requirements
  • Degree in Engineering, IT or related discipline or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience with SCADA or control room systems; GE ADMS 6.0 configuration or related control-system tech is preferred
  • Knowledge of Grid Codes, HV safety rules and Safe Systems of Work; operational switching experience advantageous
  • Experience translating business requirements into practical, innovative operational solutions
  • Strong analytical, technical and communication skills with ability to learn quickly and work across specialist teams
