Operations Systems Engineer (Software & IT)

Salary: $90,000 - 120,000 per year

• At least 3 years of experience building and deploying production web applications; TypeScript, React, or Next.js experience is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with APIs and integrations, including REST, OAuth, and webhooks.
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or Cursor.
• IT administration experience sufficient to manage Google Workspace and secure a small companys systems.
• Careful management of live systems, including testing before release and performing clean rollbacks.
• Clear, plain-English communication with field supervisors, payroll staff, and office teams.
• Familiarity with Airtable, the QuickBooks Online API, Twilio, or Claude Code is a plus.
• Ability to commute to Stuart, Florida, 34996.

• Build, maintain, and extend our employee portal, built with Next.js and TypeScript on Vercel, and its connected systems, including Airtable, Redis, Twilio, QuickBooks Online, Google Workspace, and OneDrive.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and automate repetitive processes involving timesheets, payroll preparation, lodging, onboarding, and certifications.
• Use AI coding tools regularly and carefully review their output, particularly because our systems handle payroll and live data.
• Manage company IT, including Google Workspace administration, two-step verification, DNS and email authentication, device setup, and account access for employees joining or leaving.
• Maintain system backups and documentation to support continuity and future engineering work.
• Work with coordinators to understand their processes and develop software that reduces repetitive tasks and helps them support more field employees.

We are Alpha Labor Co., a provider of crews for pre-engineered metal building construction, including erectors, insulated metal panel installers, roofers, and foremen at job sites nationwide. Our small office team supports hundreds of field employees, and we built an employee portal to help manage that work. This is our first in-house engineering role and will also oversee IT, working closely with coordinators and reporting directly to the president. The position is based in person in Stuart, Florida. We offer a base salary of $90,000–$120,000 per year, depending on experience, and the opportunity to make changes that affect how our company operates within weeks.
