Optical Metrology Systems Engineer

Apply optical metrology and calibration expertise at VIAVI to verify products, characterize components, and strengthen testing solutions. Use Python and LabVIEW across optical systems.

This Optical Testing Engineer role supports VIAVI’s optical test and measurement instrument portfolio. You will develop testing platforms, assess test coverage and efficiency, and provide design-for-testing recommendations. The position also requires presenting analysis, supporting optical system verification, and working with R&D teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform design verification for new products and components
• Characterize products and generate technical reports
• Assess testing coverage, cycle time, and throughput
• Recommend improvements for design for testing
• Present test data and recommendations to R&D teams

Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering Physics, Electrical, Software, or related engineering
• Familiarity with metrology and calibration methods
• Proficiency with Python and LabVIEW scripting
• Experience with testing equipment and automated solutions
• Telecommunications and fiber optic knowledge preferred
