Overview

In this role you will develop advanced payload software for defence and aerospace programs, focusing on high-reliability systems that support payload operations and data processing in demanding environments. You will work with a skilled engineering team to deliver software across the full lifecycle, from design to deployment, while applying engineering standards to ensure robustness. You’ll translate system needs into effective software solutions and contribute to technical documentation and continuous improvement. You will engage with senior engineers and stakeholders to influence architecture and technical direction.

Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative software solutions for mission-critical engineering problems
  • Work with minimal supervision and take initiative
  • Lead or contribute to full software development lifecycle activities (design, development, testing, deployment)
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and stakeholders on technical matters
  • Apply advanced software engineering principles to align with mission and programme objectives
  • Support integration activities and ensure compliance with software standards
  • Contribute to technical documentation and operational procedures
  • Improve software engineering practices across the team
Key requirements
  • Experience in software engineering within complex or mission-critical systems
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and test software for complex applications
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle using structured processes and standards
  • Strong analytical and logical reasoning for solving complex software and system-level problems
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and engaging with technical stakeholders
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
