Overview

In this role you will define and evolve the functional architecture for payments APIs within a fast-paced fintech environment. You’ll align product needs with technical teams to ensure APIs meet both business goals and non-functional requirements. You’ll map data, enable smooth downstream processing, and drive a customer-centric API experience using low-code/no-code approaches to grow market share. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including the CTO and risk leads, on a greenfield project for systematic fund clients.

Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain API invocation metadata
  • Support product managers to secure buy-in for APIs with internal and external partners
  • Ensure functional architecture aligns with non-functional API requirements
  • Guide data mapping between sources for API consumption
  • Standardize data provision in APIs for downstream/upstream processing
  • Understand customer experience to identify gaps and generate API-driven improvements leveraging low-code/no-code platforms
Key requirements
  • 2:1 Bachelor-level degree in Computer Science, Maths, Physics or Chemistry (UK/EURed Brick universities)
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining APIs via a development team
  • Experience in account-to-account payments; familiarity with cards/alternative payments advantageous
  • Understanding of customer needs for account-to-account payments
  • Experience with Financial Market Infrastructure (FMI) participants and regional schemes
  • Knowledge of clearing/settlement schemes for payments
  • Knowledge of API simplification and standardization across payment types
  • Understanding of card or alternative payment types advantageous
