Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Owning full-cycle payroll processing for the US and Canada, the remote Payroll and Benefits Specialist will manage day-to-day payroll operations, assist with employee leave administration, and support benefits inquiries while ensuring compliance across multiple countries. Key responsibilities Process full-cycle payroll for the US and Canada, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Administer employee leave requests and coordinate the pay impact of leaves Provide support for employee benefits inquiries and manage benefits changes related to qualifying life events Required qualifications 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, including multi-state US payroll Experience with Canadian payroll preferred; willingness to develop this expertise required Familiarity with Rippling or a comparable HRIS/payroll platform strongly preferred Knowledge of US leave laws (FMLA, state paid leave/PFML) preferred Experience resolving payroll tax notices directly with tax agencies or payroll providers
