In this role you will help build and maintain backend Perl applications that retrieve and process data from thousands of global financial sources, delivering it through reliable service pipelines. You will work at the core of data acquisition, ensuring accuracy and performance across downstream systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions and improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Automate data retrieval from diverse financial sources using common internet protocols
  • Develop, maintain, and extend Perl applications and workflows for data acquisition
  • Improve performance, maintainability, scalability, and accuracy of systems
  • Investigate faults, analyze data issues, and resolve production problems
  • Collaborate with data providers and upgrade environments
  • Work with development and managed services teams to implement enhancements
  • Identify bugs, propose features, and translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Document work and support a learning-focused, transparent culture
Key requirements
  • Professional experience developing Perl solutions in production
  • Strong object-oriented Perl, CPAN usage, and maintainable, testable code
  • Proficiency with AI coding agents and daily AI-assisted development
  • Familiarity with the DOM and web automation
  • Experience with Linux file handling and basic system commands
  • Knowledge of protocols: SSH, HTTPS, IMAP, POP3
  • Knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL), Git, CI/CD, and automated testing
  • Strong analytical and fault-finding abilities
  • Clear communication and collaboration with technical and business teams
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Perl (object-oriented), CPAN
  • AI coding agents and AI-assisted development tools
  • Web automation and DOM understanding
