Photonic Systems Test Technician

Test photonic networking products at Ciena while supporting optical systems, automated laboratory setups, and engineering development activities. This hands-on role focuses on practical testing and troubleshooting.

The Photonic Systems Technician supports Ciena’s Reconfigurable Line System and related photonic products. You will execute optical, electrical, and system-level tests while building, configuring, operating, and maintaining automated test environments. The work supports development, validation, qualification, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute optical, electrical, and system-level testing
• Build and configure automated photonic test systems
• Perform field-return triage and basic fault isolation
• Maintain laboratory hardware, inventory, and field-return assets
• Create procedures, test records, and setup documentation

Requirements:

• Diploma in electronics, photonics, telecommunications, or related technology
• Two or more years supporting optical or electronic systems
• Experience building and troubleshooting laboratory test setups
• Familiarity with fiber optic handling and testing practices
• Experience using optical and electronic test equipment
