Physician-Surgery: Transplant
Banner Health
Grow into the surgeon you want to become with a team that has your back.
The early and mid- years of a transplant career shape everything that follows: the cases you grow into, the questions you get to research, and whether you have people beside you when a night gets hard. We are building a place where early-career surgeons do not have to choose between being supported and being challenged.
The University of Arizona, Tucson and Banner University Medical Center are recruiting an abdominal multi-organ transplant surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We welcome early or mid-career surgeons to contribute to the mission and their growth within the Division and the Department. Leadership opportunities are available and will be shaped around your experience and goals.
A culture where it is safe to ask, learn and speak up
Asking for help is good surgery. Calling a partner in on a difficult case is respected as sound judgment, never seen as weakness.
Mentorship that is real. You will have surgical and academic mentors within the Department and the College of Medicine, invested in your clinical skill, research and promotion.
Learning, not blame. We review outcomes together as a team, so every complication makes all of us better.
Every voice counts. From the newest faculty member to the most senior, ideas and concerns are heard and acted on.
Your goals set the direction. Your career path, including leadership, is built with you, not handed to you.
Real growth, from day one
Full-scope practice. Liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation, living donor nephrectomy plus multi-organ procurement.
Help build programs, not just join them. We already perform robot-assisted transplant surgery and are preparing to launch auto-islet transplantation and a living donor liver transplant program. Few early-career surgeons get to help build new programs like these.
New skills, fully supported. Interest or expertise in robotic surgery, auto-islet transplantation or living donor liver transplantation is highly valued, and we will invest in your development in these areas.
World-class research partners. Work alongside the internationally recognized BIO5 Institute, known for groundbreaking research in cellular transplantation and organ regeneration, and the Boyer Liver Institute, a state-funded center of excellence advancing innovative research in liver disease.
Teach and keep learning. Train medical students, residents and fellows in a rich academic environment that values surgical education.
*Qualified candidates will receive a faculty appointment with the University of Arizona that is consistent with their credentials.
