Distribution Center Controller

Location: Hagerstown, MD – 100% Onsite

Pay: $50–$75/hour (based on experience)

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 40 hours per week

Assignment: 4–6 Month Contract | High Potential for Permanent Employment

Kelly is seeking an experienced Distribution Center Controller to support a leading manufacturing and distribution company in Hagerstown, MD.

This position offers an opportunity to work directly with site leadership, inventory teams, and operational partners to strengthen financial controls, improve processes, and drive operational efficiency.

We're looking for someone who enjoys being involved in the business beyond the numbers. The ideal candidate is a hands-on financial professional who can manage accounting responsibilities while actively partnering with teams throughout the facility to identify opportunities for improvement.

What's a Typical Day Like?

• Manage month-end closing activities, including financial reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting.
• Partner closely with inventory and operations teams to ensure accurate inventory accounting, controls, and reconciliation.
• Maintain balance sheet integrity and support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
• Support invoicing activities and ensure accurate financial transactions.
• Prepare and analyze financial results, budgets, forecasts, and operational performance.
• Identify financial discrepancies, investigate variances, and work with appropriate teams to resolve issues.
• Collaborate with site leadership and third-party logistics partners to improve operational efficiency and financial performance.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen internal controls, and reduce operating costs.
• Provide financial insight and recommendations to support business decisions.
• Work directly with employees and leadership throughout the distribution facility to understand operations and implement improvements.

What Are We Looking For?

• Previous accounting or financial management experience within a distribution center or manufacturing environment .
• Strong experience with inventory accounting, inventory reconciliation, and financial controls.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience with SAP or another ERP system .
• Experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) .
• Working knowledge of SOX requirements and internal financial controls.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to both finance and operational teams.
• Comfortable working in a changing environment and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
• Collaborative, proactive approach with the ability to build relationships across different business functions.
