Overview

In this Platform Engineer role, you’ll support and evolve an on-prem AI platform within Thales’ UK Digital Competence Centre, ensuring secure, resilient and high-performing infrastructure. You’ll work in a cross-functional agile team to maintain, monitor, and improve core infrastructure used by internal users and engineering teams. The role blends operations with lifecycle management, contributing to continuous improvement and robust service delivery. Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain the on-premise hosted AI platform infrastructure to keep services secure, reliable and available
  • Monitor platform health, investigate and resolve issues as part of day-to-day service support
  • Perform routine maintenance, patching, upgrades and scale-out activities
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, and service teams to ensure a resilient, well-governed platform
  • Contribute to technical documentation, operational standards and continuous improvement
  • Oversee day-to-day operations across physical servers, virtualization, and OS environments
  • Support containerised services and the underlying infrastructure they rely on
  • Carry out routine maintenance including health checks and lifecycle management
  • Investigate and resolve infrastructure and platform issues per standard processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, supportability and efficiency across the platform
Key requirements
  • Experience with Windows Server operating systems
  • Experience with Unix-based systems, especially RHEL
  • Experience with VMware ESXi or other hypervisors
  • Experience supporting containerised environments, particularly Kubernetes
  • Incident and problem management and change management experience
  • Solid understanding of core networking principles
  • Understanding of lifecycle management for applications and OS
  • Experience supporting infrastructure in an enterprise/operational environment
  • Good understanding of platform and infrastructure support principles
