Overview

As a Platform Engineer, you design, build, and operate Kubernetes-based infrastructure across hybrid-cloud and on-prem environments to empower engineering teams. You will improve developer experience tooling, enable self-service platforms, and support AI-assisted workflows while maintaining reliable, secure, and scalable systems. You’ll collaborate across teams to reduce toil and promote modern delivery practices, shaping the platform that underpins fast, dependable software delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy and operate Kubernetes clusters (EKS, on-prem via Rancher) across hybrid-cloud and virtualised environments
  • Define scaling, security, high availability, and multi-tenancy best practices
  • Automate provisioning with Terraform, Crossplane, and Helm; build reusable modules for self-serve infrastructure
  • Enable GitOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and Helm-based deployments for application delivery
  • Contribute to platform tooling and AI-assisted developer workflows (Claude Code skills, MCP server integrations)
  • Support teams in adopting modern delivery practices through tooling, docs, and coaching
  • Operate production workloads with an SRE mindset, define SLOs, and reduce toil via automation
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and on-call readiness
  • Apply Kubernetes security best practices (RBAC, network policies, secrets management) and support audit/compliance
Key requirements
  • Kubernetes provisioning and lifecycle management (AKS, EKS, on-prem)
  • Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Helm
  • Containerisation and orchestration with Docker, Helm, and Operators
  • Cloud platforms — AWS and/or Azure
  • CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions or similar)
  • GitOps workflows (e.g. ArgoCD)
  • Monitoring, logging and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana and Loki
  • Scripting and automation in Python, Bash or similar
  • Collaborative and adaptable
  • Clear communicator to developers and non-specialists
  • Self-motivated and pragmatic with a focus on outcomes
