Overview
In this role, you will design and optimise a Databricks-based data platform to support analytics, ML, and AI across the business. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable data solutions, improve platform reliability, and enforce engineering standards. The role sits within the technology and data engineering function and offers hybrid work across Surrey and Greater London. You will shape the platform, drive improvements, and help scale data capabilities to enable data-driven decisions.

- Design, build and enhance a secure, scalable Databricks platform
- Develop batch and real-time data pipelines using Databricks, Spark and Delta Lake
- Contribute to platform architecture, standards and best practices
- Collaborate with Product, Analytics and Data Science teams to deliver data platform solutions
- Support platform operations, monitoring, performance, reliability
- Apply Infrastructure as Code to platform management
- Share knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement across the team
- Significant experience building and supporting production-grade data platforms
- Hands-on Databricks, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Python and SQL expertise
- Cloud data engineering experience, preferably in Microsoft Azure
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Bicep)
- Understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT, data quality, security and governance
- Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with Unity Catalog, MLflow or Databricks Asset Bundles advantageous
- Knowledge of dbt, Kafka, Event Hubs or other data transformation/streaming technologies beneficial
