Overview

As Platform Engineering Manager, you will lead the shared technology platforms, cloud services and tooling that power Collinson’s Insurance technology estate. You will shape engineering standards, drive secure-by-design practices and oversee reliability, incident response and resilience. You will mentor DevOps engineers, collaborate with Security, Architecture and Engineering teams, and partner with third-party providers to sustain scalable, compliant platform services. This role is key to delivering efficient, secure software delivery at scale and enabling innovative insurance products.

Responsibilities
  • Own and operate shared platform services, cloud platforms and tooling to maintain uptime and meet SLAs
  • Oversee third-party platform suppliers and ensure service delivery and regulatory compliance
  • Lead platform operations, observability, incident management and disaster recovery planning
  • Manage platform lifecycle, technical debt, end-of-support risks and continual service improvement
  • Reduce vulnerabilities from security testing and enforce platform engineering standards
  • Align platform services with Enterprise Architecture standards and technology roadmap
  • Embed secure-by-design principles and ensure security policies are followed
  • Lead and coach Platform Engineering chapter members and support DevOps engineers
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and knowledge sharing across teams
  • Maintain visibility of capacity, risks and opportunities for improvement
Key requirements
  • Leading a Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Operations or Infrastructure Engineering team
  • Operating cloud platforms in production and ensuring service reliability
  • Implementing IaC, CI/CD, automation tooling and engineering enablement
  • Evaluating or implementing AI-enabled engineering capabilities
  • Working with third-party technology suppliers
  • Collaborating with Security, Architecture and Engineering teams
  • Coaching engineers within direct or matrix structures
