Salary: £53,000 - 93,000 per year

Requirements:

  • Deep PostgreSQL internals expertise, specifically MVCC (Multi-Version Concurrency Control), transaction semantics, locking behaviour, and advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL Write-Ahead Logging
  • Expert or advanced experience with physical and logical PostgreSQL data structures
  • Highly proficient with PostgreSQL Toolkit and third-party diagnostic tools
  • Experience correlating evidence across multiple systems, schemas, and logs
  • Experience investigating concurrency issues with cloud database vendors
  • Desirable experience with common database-access frameworks including JDBC, Hibernate, SQLAlchemy, or equivalent PostgreSQL frameworks

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a technical assessment into reported database anomalies and determine whether sufficient evidence and technical access exist for a defensible investigation
  • Assess the scale, complexity, and forensic relevance of PostgreSQL data structures and the transaction model
  • Review the availability and completeness of historical artefacts, including database records, WAL, logs, backups, audit data, and other sources
  • Evaluate the feasibility of reconstructing historical transaction activity and establishing reliable timelines for reported anomalies
  • Identify principal technical and evidential risk areas that may require deeper forensic examination
  • Reconstruct transaction timelines where feasible
  • Correlate anomalies with audit and metadata to determine business impact
  • Catalogue distinct issue types with verifiable examples
