Overview

In this role you will develop and maintain transmission EMS network models used for real-time power system operations. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate topology, connectivity and data integrity across EMS, SCADA, GIS, and planning systems. You will support key EMS applications such as state estimation, load flow and contingency analysis, contributing to system upgrades and model governance. This is a hands-on position in a technical, mission-driven organization focused on complex transmission projects and operational technology.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain and enhance Transmission EMS Network Models
  • Create and manage device relationships across substations, busbars, circuit breakers, transformers, lines, generators and other assets
  • Build and maintain connectivity/topology models
  • Validate models and perform data quality checks
  • Support modelling for new commissioning, network changes and asset updates
  • Ensure consistency between EMS, SCADA, GIS, Asset Management and Planning systems
  • Analyze and resolve model discrepancies affecting EMS applications
  • Support State Estimator, Network Topology Processor, Power Flow and Contingency Analysis functions
  • Participate in network model migrations, system upgrades and integration activities
  • Develop technical documentation, modelling standards and procedures
  • Support model governance, audit readiness and compliance activities
  • Manage customer and stakeholder relationships
Key requirements
  • Strong experience in Transmission EMS Network Modelling and Power System Applications
  • Expertise in device relationship creation and network connectivity modelling
  • Knowledge of transmission network topology, substation configurations, network connectivity
  • Experience with EMS platforms such as GE PowerOn or GE XA/21
  • Knowledge of IEC CIM standards (IEC 61970/61968) and model exchange processes
  • Experience with SCADA point-to-device mapping and telemetry modelling
  • Understanding of databases, SQL and XML
  • Experience with automation scripting, preferably Python
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to identify and communicate project risks while managing changing priorities
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline
  • 8+ years' experience in Power System Network Modelling, EMS Applications or Utility Operational Technology
  • Experience working with TSOs/ISOs/utilities or control centres
