Power Systems Application Engineer

Apply power systems expertise as an Application Engineer with SEL in Burnaby or Calgary, supporting protection, automation, and communications solutions.

As a customer-facing technical advisor, you will support pre-sales and post-sales engagements for utilities, industrial automation, renewable energy, and critical infrastructure customers. The work combines system design, device selection, solution architecture, commissioning support, and customer relationship management. You will connect technical decisions with reliability and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent SEL between customers and engineering, manufacturing, and support teams
• Advise on protection, automation, and communications solutions
• Support system design, device selection, and solution architecture
• Assist application design, settings, configuration, testing, and commissioning
• Travel to customer sites, typically 25-30% of the time

Requirements:

• Experience in application engineering or technical sales
• Hands-on power systems, protection relays, or automation experience
• Understanding of protection schemes, SCADA, DNP3, and IEC 61850
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Ability to write and speak English coherently
