PowerBuilder Developer to develop and maintain application solutions using PowerBuilder and Microsoft SQL Server

Our client is seeking a PowerBuilder Developer (6+ years of experience)to develop and maintain application solutions using PowerBuilder and Microsoft SQL Server

This role supports the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise applications. The position includes application development, production support, relational database development, quality assurance participation, and integration support across existing and new systems. The work involves maintaining legacy applications, supporting data integrity initiatives, and contributing to technical documentation and deployment activities.

Contract, Winnipeg, Working Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm CST (7.25 hours per day), Monday to Friday.

Must Haves

  • 6+ years developing new application solutions, maintaining existing applications, and providing production support
  • 5+ years as a PowerBuilder Developer
  • 3+ years with relational databases and development of stored procedures
  • 2+ years maintaining and enhancing legacy applications
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Team Foundation Server

Nice to Have

  • Experience programming in .NET
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure databases and associated tools
  • Experience converting Sybase to SQL Server
  • Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed estimates for software development life cycle activities
  • Assess service requests and recommend application solutions
  • Develop application code, architecture, specifications, and technical interfaces
  • Test and maintain functional and non-functional system components
  • Implement additions and enhancements to existing applications
  • Document application code, system configuration, and maintenance processes
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including design and code reviews
