Principal Applications & Systems Engineer -.NET, PHP & AI

Salary: $160,000 - 185,000 per year

• At least 8 years of hands-on professional software development and/or systems engineering experience, including substantial application development work.
• Strong proficiency in C# and .NET Core / ASP.NET Core.
• Practical experience developing, maintaining, or enhancing PHP applications.
• Experience building web applications, REST APIs, and database-driven business systems.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or comparable relational databases.
• Linux server administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Understanding of web application hosting, networking, security, and production environments.
• Experience with Git or a comparable source control system.
• Ability to independently design, develop, deploy, and troubleshoot production applications.
• Strong analytical skills and a record of solving complex technical problems.
• Preferred: Experience with Blazor Server or other modern .NET web frameworks; modern .NET architecture and legacy application modernization; PHP and LAMP stack development; Dapper or other .NET data access tools; PostgreSQL and MySQL administration and performance tuning; KVM, VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms; Nginx, Apache, IIS, Docker, or reverse proxies; Linux scripting, infrastructure automation, or monitoring; third-party APIs, telephony, or contact center platforms; and AI technologies or LLM-powered applications.
• Prior professional AI experience is preferred but not required; programming ability, technical curiosity, and willingness to learn emerging technologies are more important.

• Design, develop, maintain, and modernize business-critical applications using C#, .NET Core / ASP.NET Core, PHP, Blazor, and related technologies.
• Advance modernization of our internal CRM and operational applications, and maintain Linux-hosted PHP applications.
• Build REST APIs, background services, integrations, scripts, utilities, and automated processes.
• Refactor and improve application code for performance, security, reliability, and maintainability; troubleshoot issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers.
• Participate in application architecture, code reviews, testing, and deployment.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database-driven functionality across PostgreSQL and MySQL; diagnose performance, indexing, locking, and connectivity problems.
• Support database architecture, maintenance, backups, recovery, and reliability.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers, virtualized infrastructure, application hosting, web servers, and reverse proxies.
• Address networking, firewall, routing, DNS, storage, and system security issues; improve backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, and business continuity.
• Automate infrastructure and operational tasks and help keep production applications and supporting systems secure and reliable.
• Identify practical AI opportunities and build AI-enabled features using commercial or locally hosted LLMs, integrating services and APIs with .NET and PHP applications.
• Explore conversational AI, speech-to-text, intelligent search, document processing, workflow automation, infrastructure monitoring, and AI applications for customer service, contact centers, scheduling, reporting, and operational efficiency.
• Assess emerging AI technologies for performance, security, reliability, and measurable business value.
• Own technical projects from concept through development, deployment, and ongoing support; independently resolve complex technical issues.
• Work with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges, recommend improvements to architecture and development practices, and assess new technologies for our environment.
