Principal Cloud Engineer

In this role, you will join the NSS Cloud Team to support, maintain and secure the NSS enterprise cloud footprint. You will work on over 100 production and 200 test/dev subscriptions across Azure and AWS, contributing to strategic IT projects that enhance infrastructure efficiency. You’ll explore emerging technologies and upskill with training to strengthen cloud capabilities. This position is embedded in a broader effort to deliver reliable public health services and digital transformation.

• Support, maintain and secure 100+ production subscriptions and 200+ test/dev subscriptions in NSS enterprise tenancy
• Work with IaC, IaaS and PaaS technologies across Azure and AWS
• Contribute to major IT infrastructure projects and future direction research
• Assist with management, access and development of applications in Azure
• Develop scripting and automation skills using Ansible and Terraform
• Collaborate with a team of cloud engineers to deliver reliable cloud services
• Participate in training and wider IT capability building within the team
• Engage with stakeholders to understand business requirements and align cloud solutions

• Experience in infrastructure support with cloud technologies
• Exposure to Azure (and some AWS) cloud environments
• Willingness to learn and develop cloud skills via training
• Scripting/automation interest (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
• Good customer relations and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to work in a hybrid, UK-based environment
