Overview

As Principal Civil/Structural Engineer, you will lead complex design packages for civil/structural subway systems within a regulated environment. You will work with cross‑functional teams to integrate designs and manage change control across the lifecycle. You will advise on sub-contractor designs, ensure compliance with standards, and support governance for subway projects. This role offers impact across safety, quality, and delivery in a highly regulated setting. You will contribute to shaping robust, compliant solutions that meet critical infrastructure needs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage one or more technical design packages to ensure requirements are met
  • Provide expert design guidance and review of sub-contractor designs for compliance
  • Collaborate across engineering functions to integrate designs within the facility layout
  • Maintain design intent through change control and configuration management
  • Lead assurance and governance activities for subway remedial works and new design development
  • Support development and implementation of project assurance and governance in subway projects
Key requirements
  • Design experience of high-complexity services subways/routes in regulated environments (preferably nuclear)
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, legislation and standards (including CDM principal designer responsibilities)
  • Ability to substantiate safety-critical components (e.g., SFRs) for nuclear safety case support
  • Proven capability in technical management of complex design development lifecycle
  • Provide expert guidance to subcontract design teams
  • Strong understanding of engineering design and safety practices relevant to the project
  • Experience in BIM environments
  • Awareness of project planning, budgeting, and procurement procedures
  • Experience working with design houses on changes to subway designs
