Principal Developer Glasgow | Hybrid | Permanent | £67,000 + bonus + great benefits

We're working with an established financial technology business looking for a Principal Developer to join its technical team. This is a hands-on leadership role combining software expertise, financial systems knowledge and people management.

The Role

You'll play a key role in delivering and implementing financial software solutions while supporting and developing a team of developers. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, supporting and managing a team of developers
• Providing technical guidance, mentoring and support
• Acting as a technical lead across projects and overseeing build activity
• Reviewing and signing off solution designs
• Implementing and testing financial software solutions
• Leading peer reviews and driving development best practice
• Managing defect triage through acceptance testing
• Acting as a technical escalation point for project and software issues
• Ensuring delivery remains within agreed scope, timescales and budgets
• Managing changes through the appropriate change control process
• Supporting team members with objectives, development plans and career development

What We're Looking For

You'll need to bring a combination of reconciliation expertise, financial sector experience, software knowledge and people leadership .

Essential experience

• Strong reconciliation experience
• Experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
• Strong commercial software experience
• People management / line management experience
• Financial services, FinTech or financial software experience
• MS SQL
• Data querying and manipulation
• SQL performance tuning
• SSRS / Power BI
• Experience with low-code configuration tools

You should also have a strong understanding of the software development and implementation lifecycle, change control, technical delivery and project scope management.
