Overview

As Principal Digital Engineer you will lead 4D/3D/2D BIM coordination and model management within the Design Integration team, supporting the BIM Production Manager and GIS Specialists. You drive constructability, clash detection, and information management while ensuring compliance with project standards. You will train team members and liaise with clients and contractors, contributing to resilient, digitally enabled infrastructure. This role blends technical leadership with collaborative delivery to advance SYSTRA’s BIM ambitions.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Design Integration Team and BIM Production Manager in day-to-day design implementation
  • Coordinate and manage 4D models to demonstrate constructability and coordination of works and site layouts
  • Develop and manage Interface Coordination 4D model in Synchro Control
  • Provide progress updates to Digital Engineering Manager on a regular basis
  • Review BIM data from designers and subcontractors for temporary works and utilities
  • Monitor temporary works design and construction sequence interfaces in 3D environment
  • Produce models/drawings from existing data per project requirements
  • Support BIM/Information Management activities within Design Integration and QA teams
  • Record and maintain BIM, Quality and Coordination correspondences
  • Assist deployment of BIM/CAD tools, provide training to project team
  • Ensure models meet agreed level of detail and information needs (TIDP, MIDP, CDE)
  • Perform QA checks on models and ensure technical compliance
  • Export, federate, clash detect and provide visual walkthroughs of models
  • Monitor clash interference and coordinate fully coordinated models
  • Support 2D deliverables’ compliance with safety standards and CDM regulations
  • Provide training and guidance to less experienced team members
Key requirements
  • Proficient with Microstation, AECOsim, Open Roads, Power Rail, Navigator, ProjectWise
  • Experience in Design or Construction
  • Demonstrable 4D model experience
  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary design workflows and BIM/CAD coordination
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong PC Windows and Microsoft Office skills
  • Background from a consultant or contractor on infrastructure/transport projects
  • Effective communication under time pressure
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork
  • Relationship building with project delivery teams, clients and contractors
  • BIM/CAD standards experience (international and/or British)
  • 4D modelling and constructability coordination
  • Clash detection and model federation
