Overview

As Principal Embedded Software Engineer, you lead embedded software development for real-time, high-integrity EV platforms such as battery management and power conversion. You will drive design, implementation and testing of low-level software and middleware, collaborating across hardware, validation and manufacturing teams. You translate system requirements into robust software architectures and ensure quality through rigorous testing and standards compliance. This role offers technical leadership in a electrification-focused environment, shaping core control software for next-generation electric vehicles.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, implementation and testing of real-time embedded software for microcontroller platforms
  • Develop low-level and application software in C, C++ and assembly
  • Design modular drivers, communication stacks and HALs to enable scalable software
  • Work with CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, UART and Ethernet; support bootloaders and firmware updates
  • Translate system requirements into software specs and maintain architecture/design docs
  • Plan and execute unit, integration and system tests using static/dynamic analysis tools
  • Support compliance with MISRA-C, CERT C, ISO 26262 and ASPICE
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, systems, validation and manufacturing teams to enable hardware integration
Key requirements
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in software or electronic engineering
  • Significant embedded software experience for hard real-time systems
  • Advanced programming skills in embedded C/C++ and assembly
  • Experience with software requirements, specifications, tests, version control and change management
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools (Bitbucket, Jenkins or GitLab CI)
  • Familiarity with CAN-based tools (INCA, CANape, CANalyzer) and complex electrical systems
  • Understanding of functional safety, cyber security and high-integrity standards
