Overview
As a Principal Software Engineer, drive the architecture and technical direction for a global, high-scale API platform. You will partner with cross-functional squads to solve complex distributed systems challenges in a cloud-native environment and mentor multiple engineering teams. You shape long-term maintainability, security, and observability while embracing emerging technologies, including AI tooling. This is a pivotal role that connects engineering execution with business goals and platform scale.

- Set technical direction for a large-scale API platform (synchronous and event-driven)
- Lead architectural design across a modern cloud-native stack
- Improve security, observability, performance, and long-term maintainability
- Mentor engineers and technical leads across multiple teams
- Align engineering strategy with product and delivery leadership
- Champion engineering fundamentals (testing, CI/CD, IaC, clean architecture)
- Explore integrating emerging technologies, including AI tooling, into workflows
- Large-scale distributed systems experience in cloud environments
- Deep API design knowledge (REST and GraphQL) with production Kafka experience
- Cloud platform experience, especially AWS, and containerised infrastructure
- Proficiency in TypeScript across a modern backend stack
- Experience leading multiple engineering teams
- Commitment to code quality and sustainable architecture
- Collaborative, mentoring leadership style
- Interest in how AI is changing engineering workflows
- Enterprise CRM experience would be advantageous
